Application Documents
Applicants are required to submit the completed application before October 2, 2024. Late submissions will not be considered for spring semester 2024 admission. All of the following items should be submitted at the same time via NKUST Online Application System for International Students.
(1) One completed application form (Fill in the online application form).
(2) Certificate of Nationality (passport, alien residence certificate).
(3) Academic credentials:
A. Academic credentials from Mainland China: The regulations governing the accreditation of schools in Mainland China shall apply.
B. Academic credentials from Hong Kong or Macao: Academic credential verification and accreditation methods adopted in Hong Kong or Macao shall apply.
C. Academic credentials from other areas:
(a) Photocopied certificate of current highest-level diploma and original transcript (A copy of Chinese or English translation shall be submitted if in a language other than Chinese or English) must be authenticated by the ROC embassy, consulate office, or Taipei Economic & Culture Office of the country in which the applicant resides (Refer to Note 4).
(b) Applicants who are graduating students without the proper diploma certificates at the time of application should provide upon enrollment the official diploma certificates for verification. Applicants should provide high school diploma for undergraduate studies, bachelor’s degree diploma for graduate studies, and master’s degree diploma for doctoral studies.
(c) Once admitted, students must provide original copies of diploma certificates for review upon registration.
(d) Translation of certified copies of diploma certificates MUST be authenticated by the school from which students graduated and by the ROC embassy, consulate office, or Taipei Economic & Culture Office of the country in which the student resides.
NOTE: “ROC representative offices abroad” refers to ROC embassies, consulates, representative offices, trade offices, or other agencies authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of ROC.

(5) The applicant must show documented evidence that sufficient funds to cover all tuition, fees and living expenses are available for the first year of their studies at NKUST, by one of the following means:
(a) A photocopy of scholarship award notification (scholarship award notification is certified by Taiwan government not by NKUST).
(b) An official bank statement is required and should be issued in English/Chinese (dated within the last 3 months). In the case the bank statement is not issued in the name of the applicant, a signed declaration must be provided from the sponsor. In the declaration itshould clearly state the sponsor’s relationship with the applicant and commitment to cover the applicant’s all expenses in Taiwan.
(6) Declaration.
(7) At least one letter of Recommendation.
(8) Other materials required by specific departments/institutes.
(9) A pplicants who apply for the programs taught in Chinese need to have C hinese language skill and are required to provide a Chinese proficiency certificate (TOCFL) level A2 or above; applicants who apply for the programs taught in English need to have English language skill and are required to provide an English proficiency ce rtificate CEFR level B1 or above.
Optional Documents:
(1) Certificate of Mandarin proficiency. (Optional).
(2) Letter of Guarantee for Visa Application to the Republic of China (If the applicant comes from the specific countries, including Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Gambia, Ghana, Iraq, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Syria and so on, please fill in the “Letter of Guarantee for Visa Application to the Republic of China.” The Guarantor must be NKUST’s professor. If you fail to hand in this document, the application packets will not be considered.) (Optional)
(3) Teacher Certificate (Applicant needs to be currently employed.) (Optional)
(4) The Certificate of Nationality Renouncement of Republic of China is required for applicants who have once held Republic of China citizenship. The date of renouncement must be longer than 8 years prior to school start date.

Apply while applying for admission. Those who pass the qualification review and are approved by the review meeting may be exempted from tuition and fees and credit fees (excluding fees for accommodation, computer and internet connection, books and insurance). 1.The maximum number of places to be issued is a quarter of the number of applicants for each college in the current academic year. If the number of applicants for each school in the academic year is less than 4, the maximum number of places to be issued is one. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of places that can be issued by the school in the current year, the colleges will recommend them after a preliminary review. 2. Scholarships for new students of different programs are limited to one application per person; for monthly scholarships and exemption of tuition, fees and credit fees, a maximum of four years for the undergraduates of four-year program; two years for undergraduates of two-year program; two years for master’s degree students. However, the suspension period is not included. |
Apply while applying for admission. Those who are admitted and pass the review of eligibility will be granted NT$6,000 monthly. The awards are granted twice respectively. 1.The maximum number of places to be issued is one-eighth of the number of applicants for each school in the current academic year. If the number of applicants for each college in the academic year is less than 8, the maximum number of places to be issued is one. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of places that can be issued by the school in the current year, the colleges will recommend them after a preliminary review. 2. Scholarships for new students of different programs are limited to one application per person; for monthly scholarships and exemption of tuition, fees and credit fees, a maximum of four years for the undergraduates of four-year program; two years for undergraduates of two-year program; two years for master’s degree students. However, the suspension period is not included. 3.The funding for these regulations is covered by the subsidy from Ministry of Education, the NKUST budget allocation (including self-raised income distribution) and faculty's selfraised funds. The number of scholarships can be adjusted flexibly according to the income and expenditure of various funds in the current year. |
New students apply while applying for admission in accordance with 3. 1. Those who are admitted and pass the review of eligibility will be granted NT$12,000 monthly. 1.At the time of admission application, the students, who are selected as the first in line by an advisor at the rank of assistant professor or above, will be awarded monthly scholarship; for those who are not in the first in line, the scholarship will be funded by the advisor. 2.For those who have not selected an advisor at the time of enrollment, their monthly scholarship will be reviewed based on the new student’s merits and various research achievements, as well as the current year budget. 3.Scholarships for new students are limited to one application per person; for monthly scholarships, tuition and fees, and credit fees, a maximum of four years for doctoral students. However, the suspension period is not included. 4.The scholarships are awarded for an academic year. The monthly scholarship is issued for a total of twelve months and distributed on a monthly basis. After the awarded new students and current students complete the registration procedures on the first day of the semester, they must submit an assessment form to Office of International Affairs for reference every month. The assessment form is drawn up separately to serve as the basis for reviewing future scholarship renewals or new applications. Awarded new students should take at least one Chinese language course, or be credited with a test of Chinese Language Proficiency (TOCFL) B or higher score or certificate, and their Chinese score will be used as the basis for subsequent scholarship review. 5.The funding for these regulations is covered by the subsidy from Ministry of Education, the NKUST budget allocation (including self-raised income distribution) and faculty's selfraised funds.
